๐Ÿฉบ C&P Exam Practice Chat & Examiner Simulation

Rehearse your official VA Compensation and Pension (C&P) medical examination before speaking with QTC, VES, Optum Serve, or VA staff clinicians. Select your target exam track below to begin tailored DBQ questioning.

โ— Active Examiner: Dr. Miller (Psychiatric C&P Clinician)
VA C&P Medical Examiner Good morning Veteran. I am your contracted C&P examiner for your PTSD / Mental Health DBQ. Can you describe your in-service stressors and how your anxiety, nightmares, anger, or intrusive thoughts impact your ability to maintain steady employment and relationships?
๐Ÿ’ก VSO Practice Coach Advice Be brutally honest. Do not downplay your symptoms! Describe your condition as it exists on your worst days. Mention occupational impairment (difficulty with supervisors/coworkers, anger, isolation, panic attacks, insomnia).

โš–๏ธ The DeLuca Precedent (38 CFR ยง 4.40 / 4.45)

Under DeLuca v. Brown, the examiner must measure range of motion (ROM) at the point where pain, weakness, or fatigue begins, NOT when you are forced through agonizing joint resistance.

Mandatory Flare-Up Rule

๐Ÿง  38 CFR ยง 4.130 Rating Schedule

Mental health ratings are based on occupational and social impairment:

  • 100%: Total occupational & social impairment
  • 70%: Impairment in most areas (work, school, family)
  • 50%: Reduced reliability and productivity
  • 30%: Occasional decrease in work efficiency

๐Ÿ”ฅ PACT Act Conceded Exposure (38 U.S.C. 1119)

For diagnosed presumptive conditions (rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma, respiratory cancers), you do NOT need to prove a nexus letter if qualifying deployment service is verified.

Statutory Concession

๐Ÿšฉ Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Never answer "I'm fine" when asked how you are doing upon greeting. The examiner will record that as full functional capacity!
